Rose Festival Opening Night
Tom McCall Waterfront Front
Nothing says celebration quite like fireworks —so the Portland Rose Festival will get the festivities started off on an awe-inspiring note! Your admission to CityFair will include the fireworks display — choreographed to music — plus additional entertainment provided by Andre Marc & Hit Machine. Our show is one of Oregon’s largest fireworks displays, with thunderous pyrotechnics that soar above CityFair beginning at nightfall.
Rose Festival City Fair

Rose Festival’s waterfront activities kick off on May 24th at 5:00 pm for Memorial Day weekend and three consecutive weekends at Tom McCall Waterfront Park (May 24-May 27, May 31-June 2 and June 7-9, 2019), in downtown Portland with entertainment, food and rides.
Rose Festival Starlight Parade
9:00pm – 11:00pm
One of the Rose Festival’s best and brightest traditions, and celebrating more than 40 years in the city of Portland, the Portland General Electric/SOLVE Starlight Parade offers funky, eclectic fun for everyone. From traditional marching bands and flood-lit floats, to glow-in-the-dark umbrellas and unique hand-built entries, you’ll see the best of Portland’s diverse community and surrounding region together in one whimsical pageant.
Rose Festival Fleet Week
Since the very beginning of the Rose Festival back in 1907, visiting ships and other fleet-related elements (like submarines) have been making their way to Portland’s waterfront. The City of Portland is known to be a favorite port of call for military (and non-military) visitors — and citizens enjoy making these visitors welcome! One of the purposes of Fleet Week has always been to celebrate and thank the active and reserve military personnel and all veterans. The Portland Rose Festival is extremely fortunate to be one of a few U.S. Ports of Call for a courtesy visit from the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, and Royal Canadian Navy. Their arrival commemorates a relationship with the Navy that has lasted more than 100 years, and over 80 years of visiting Portland during the Rose Festival. It is a significant commitment by the Navy to make the Rose Festival Fleet Week one of the premier Fleet Week events in the country.
Rose Festival Grand Floral Parade
10:00am – 2:00pm
A cherished highlight of the Portland Rose Festival, this popular procession is more than a spectacular floral-filled parade; it’s a beloved annual tradition. For more than 100 years, Portland families, visitors and community groups have been making memories at the Spirit Mountain Casino Grand Floral Parade. A colorful reflection of local, regional and international communities, the parade draws hundreds of thousands of cheering viewers of every age, along a 4-mile route that winds through city streets and across the river.
